NSLHA Recommended Language Verification Process Training
Monday, April 22, 2019 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Location: ESU #3 in Omaha
Description: Learn the use of guiding documents for identifying students with a Speech/Language Impairment in the area of language. The "Language Verification Matrix” and "Language Verification Checklist" have been developed and implemented over the past five years by GIPS/CNSSP SLPs with SPED administration approval. This process was designed to help SLPs steer away from using the severe discrepancy model for making entitlement decisions. This training will emphasize use of "multiple data sources" and how the information obtained fits into the "three-part eligibility requirement" set forth in the Nebraska verification guidelines Technical Assistance document for conducting comprehensive evaluations.
