September 21, 2017 Nebraska School Speech & Language Current Issues Webinar

Nebraska Speech-Language Pathologists will receive an overview of the current Nebraska Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) proposed plan, along with the role of SLPs in schools. Current national topics will be discussed including: telepractice, SLPAs, universal licensure, dyslexia and caseload vs. workload. Discuss information regarding Nebraska's current eligibility criteria for speech and/or language impairment and future collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Education.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn about the Nebraska Department of Education's Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) proposed plan and the SLP's role in school systems based on the ESSA plan.

2. Identify topics facing SLPs across the nation.

3. Identify questions/concerns regarding Nebraska's current criteria for speech-language impairments, different school districts' approaches, and future discussions with the Nebraska Department of Education along with additional opportunities to participate in these discussions.
